"I am inspired by Shaesta's story and am impressed with the global reach she has been able to garner, with Jill Meyers backing her. "
"making the dream come true"
Dreams Soar's mission is to inspire the next generation to pursue STEM and aviation education and careers. Shaesta Waiz, Dreams Soar's Founder, President and Pilot, was born in a refugee camp in Afghanistan and fled with her family to the U.S. when she was just under a year old. Shaesta was raised in Richmond, California and attended school in an underprivileged district, where substitute teachers and sharing textbooks was the norm. One of six sisters, she discovered the world of aviation when she was a teenager, which then changed the course of her life! Shaesta was the first in her family to obtain a bachelor's and master's degree, attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. She is the first female certified civilian pilot from Afghanistan and holds a Commercial license. Shaesta founded Dreams Soar in 2014 to inspire the next generation of STEM and Aviation professionals, and to start a scholarship program to help young girls all over the world who don't have easy access to STEM education.
Shaesta was the pilot for our first program, the Dreams Soar Solo Global Flight for STEM. She launched her round-the-world journey on May 13, 2017, from Daytona Beach, Florida, flying a Beechcraft A36 Bonanza single-engine aircraft. Shaesta spent 4.5 months flying around the globe solo, inspiring over 3,000 young girls and boys to work hard and follow their dreams. She flew 24,816 nautical miles across five continents, visited 22 countries and held 32 Outreach events. Her Global Flight concluded on October 4th with her landing back at Daytona Beach International Airport, making her the youngest woman in history to circumnavigate the globe in a single-engine aircraft.
This is our time to EMPOWER and IMPACT the very lives touched by the Global Flight for STEM, through a scholarship program designed to support children around the world interested in pursuing STEM and aviation education, yet are limited with resources. That's where YOU step in, and join us to make their dreams a reality, to continue changing lives, to be a positive influence on others and give of ourselves so we have a better TOMORROW.
